Basic Workflow
Open an SL3 file and review the summary information. Tap Build to create the sonar viewer. Review the file window by window, correct the depth profile where needed, Accept your edits, then Save the SL3 to the working file (the original remains untouched). Export copies the saved PingEdit working file to a location of your choice.
Pinch to zoom and drag to pan around the sonar viewing window. Use the left and right carets to move between sonar windows. The navigation carets only display after touching the Fit button. Fit returns the active sonar window to its full extent.
Navigate Mode
Add creates an additional control point at the yellow preview location along the red editing line. Use added points when the existing control spacing (about 20 pings) does not give enough precision for the correction desired.
Add Mode
Zoom in to at least 3x before attempting to Edit. Touch a red control point without any dragging to mark the adjoining line segments for depth interpolation. Drag a control point vertically when its depth also needs adjustment. Use the Full Line button to mark the entire red control line for editing in one step, much like the smoothing effects of a coarser resample filter. Any segment colored green will be written to the working file with revised depths. Use Accept to lock in edits, or the other buttons to undo them.
Edit Mode
When Downscan data is available, use the 200 kHz / Downscan selector on the sonar viewer to switch between the two recorded sonar frequencies. The depth profile and editing controls remain synchronized horizontally even when you change channels, but the vertical view will correspond to the full range of the recording.
Sonar Channel
Use the Gray, Amber, and Cool selector on the sonar viewer to change the sonar display palette. Changing the palette only affects how the sonar is displayed and does not alter the actual sonar data or the layered depth lines.
Sonar Colors
The Black line is the original SL3 (.sl3) tracked depth recorded by the chartplotter. The Red line is generated by PingEdit and includes precise tracked depths every 20 pings, with interpolated depths between control points. Green shows the portions of the Red profile that have been marked to be written to the working file when you choose Save.

Editing Controls
Undo reverses the most recent point edit or action. Point resets the selected control point and removes its green interpolation marks. All resets every current edit not already saved. Full Line marks the entire length of the Red depth control line to be written to the working file as edited depths with linear interpolations between control points. Accept finishes any current editing work and returns the mode to Navigate. For any editing other than Full Line, complete your work within each sonar viewing frame, hit Accept and Save to store the edits within the working file.
Save SL3 writes the edits to PingEdit's internal working copy. The original SL3 is preserved. Export copies the PingEdit working file to the location you select, such as a microSD card attached to a card reader or into a Files directory.
Save and Export
Retain your original sonar recordings. PingEdit is designed to work from a separate edited copy so the original SL3 can remain as a source record.
